Posted Date: 6/15/2017

The Evansville-Vanderburgh County Advisory Board on Disability Services will hold a workshop on the universal importance of ADA compliance. The presentation titled “A Photographic Journey through an Inaccessible World: 2017!” will be presented by Doug Goeppner, ADA Coordinator for the University of Southern Indiana. The workshop will be held Wednesday, June 21 in Browning Room B at Central Library at 9:30 a.m.

This 90-minute session will illustrate what can happen when an organization fails to meet accessibility standards, followed by introductory comments regarding the importance of accessibility and a brief listing of laws requiring accessibility in the built environment. The remainder (and bulk) of the session will be an interactive group exercise that consists of a review of photographs from a variety of sources that represent examples of inaccessibility found in commonly used settings such as parking lots, sidewalks, restrooms, temporary public events, and other venues that are open for the use of the general public.
